After the fire on the Portland Maine Custom House Wharf in December 2025, I watched the waves of flames as brave firefighters worked to salvage what they could of this iconic location. They were also saving the livelihoods of so many families who rely on the hard working fishermen who provide food for so many. this image is inspired by the chaos of the night and the emergency response of fire and police on land and by sea to put out the flames. So much of my fishing family-inspired work is due to the activity along this wharf. This painting is my hope that we all come together to support the rebuilding and restore the working waterfront we all love.
