Iris and Anne
by Ann Trainor Domingue
Contrasts in textures and forms in the garden--delicate Queen Anne's Lace, bearded iris, grasses, and shadows. Inspired by plein air sketches and paintings done at a friend's garden, fresh spring purple irises sway in the breeze with their petals echoing the movement. Whites of Queen Anne's lace in middle ground serve to provide contrast to the solid forms of the irises. All working together to give a lively view of spring.
