Two-piece painting, on canvas. I've long been attracted to weatherworn surfaces near a coastal waterfront. Previously I’ve loved Cape Cod towns, Rhode Island waterfronts and now find Portland Maine's working waterfront a wealth of texture and color, shape and sounds. All this adds up to an entertaining view as I sit to sketch or take quick photos of this historic view. I do hope it will be preserved and shored up as necessary so we can see for ourselves how weather and work go together to create history. I have intentionally used subdued colors in tones of warm and cool grays to bring a sense of age to this area. FYI: this piece could hang as two separate pieces, or it could be framed so they are butted/attached together on the back side.
