Quilted Over Time in Blues
by Ann Trainor Domingue
This painting began as a black and white drawing on canvas suing alcohol markers. My idea was to use a quilted concept of pieces section of cloth together to simulate a quilt. I then developed the upper portion as a rock ledge outcropping with a small house on it, then added a pop of color as the sun and its reflection in the water. I had many comments about it being black and white, not what people were looking for. So I thought I'd add a layer of thin manganese blue in a gradient darker at the bottom, lighter toward the top. I'm curious as the response of this remake.
