I took another pass at this painting recently. I found the earlier intense color version did not set well with me now. I kept the heavily textured fabric collage surface which defined the composition in position. I then painted over most of the color except for the trees in the foreground. I scrubbed other colors on top to lessen the intensity of bright green on the earlier painting. Then I rethought about the season I'd like to work with and settled into autumn or possibly early spring before the brilliant greens start popping. I enjoy much more the warm green neutral tones of the distant mountains and how they contrast with the overcast sky.
