This painting was an exploration of pattern and color, as I played with the shape of working lobster/fishing boats. The back and forth direction of each brings a sense of busyness to a working waterfront, each boat heading to or from work, heading out or in, home or away. The continuous pattern of this daily work may seem romantic but the work and danger is quite real. Stories of people lost and not found are abundant. Yet many people who fish for a living have a deep connection to the edge of the land and sea, both being a safe harbor and journey. I modified color in Jan 2025.
