This piece was the last I prepared for my May show at Portland Art Gallery. It seems to culminate the things I have been exploring over the winter and early spring. I do challenge myself when I start a new series to go beyond and/or deeper with where I have been in my work. These pieces explore a more abstract approach as I developed paintings that kept elements I feel connected to while working my painting process in a different manner. Beginning with a busy patterned and textured underpainting then discovering the overall design to bring it to finish. 'How Was Your Day' is something my husband and I ask each other at the end of the day while sitting down to supper, at home, warm and together again. A simple question that often opens a long conversation...
