Start of the Day

Framed in whitewash floater. I've long loved the ceramic suns we purchased while visiting family in El Paso, TX. The brilliant colors were a perfect reflection of the overexposure of sun and light in that area of the country. The simplified shapes of the details in the face also has been interesting to me. I have created my own version of this idea in this piece. A bit more melancholy perhaps but nonetheless hopeful for the day ahead.
