The relationship between two people has been a common theme in my work. Either actual human figures or suggestions of them through lights on inside a building or evidence of people having been in a location. I like that viewers of my work have space to imagine their own situation and find a connection in how I handle imagery. This piece began with a riot of color below and as I worked to bring elements together in a design I kept shifting the noisy color scheme to a quieter one mixing grays and layering over color to reduce the tension. The warm oranges brought the overall color palette together. The couple in the doorway--united by the dark reds of their clothing, is framed by inner light that pours out into the night time.
