This canvas has been painted over several times as I tried to find an acceptable-to-me finish. I finally just gessoed over the previous work and began anew. I ahd sketched an idea for a long horizontal format in my sketchbook and found this simple idea to try. The surface is so rough as it has so many layers of paint on it. I decided I'd use it to my advantage and let the texture be prominent by using simplified imagery letting the raised surface areas catch the light while creating an edge of the sea location of home.
