As the Tide Rolls In

Framed in floater. This painting began as a sketchbook drawing, with a simple seagull on a rock backlit by the sun. The complexities happened as I used cut tracing paper to glue to the panel first, forming the basic design shapes. Then with layers of thin acrylic and medium I built layers of subtle color with linear textures from a scruffy bristle brush. I then scratched in wfith a sharp point of a drill bit the crosshatching seen on the rock and around the glowing edge of the sun. Hope you enjoy this subtle take on a complex seascape.
