The relationship of this couple is the focus here. As the painting developed from my initial sketch it took on another dimension--a sense of seriousness or sweetness as the guy offered the bird to the woman. Maybe asking for marriage, or forgiveness? I softened the intensity of my colors too when the idea of the narrative shifted in the making. As of late this is one of my favorites and will be the foundation for a new series.
