The New Castle lighthouse near Portsmouth NH provided the subject for this piece. I've simplified a busy waterway scene to isolate the lighthouse's form and nearby shapes. The background of darker tones provided great contrast so I could focus on the shape of the lighthouse. I've exaggerated the blue tones as the brilliant sunny day was just spectacular as I sat doing sketches of this great location.
