Before the End
by Ann Trainor Domingue
Many visits to a friend's lake cottage inspired this piece. The point of land as you round the bend to the open water gives a beautiful view of distant mountains and forest. The single rock is well know to the locals as a key landmark to avoid getting too close to the land. I've handled the bold pine tree foliage and branches in a way that describes the shapes while keeping a certain amount of abstractness in this composition. I have invented the color scheme to suggest a quiet early morning or late afternoon effect.
