Weatherworn Light
by Ann Trainor Domingue
Midday sunlight created strong light and shadow play on this particular day at Harbor Fish Market wharf. The bleached out light crashing off the building with piers exposed at low tide, allowed me to design a painting in a minimal color palette while letting the shadow be the star. I do love color and also enjoy a good challenge when it presents itself. As a graphic designer for many years these kinds of decisions are easy to see the opportunity of making an interesting painting. The challenge was for me to stay focused on minimal color with casual line drawing and not be tempted to 'finish' and refine. I'm a real fan of scruffiness.
